About LocalPDF — Private Browser PDF Tools

LocalPDF (openlocalpdf.com) is a privacy-first suite of free PDF tools. Merge, split, rotate, watermark, and compress run entirely in your browser with client-side libraries — your documents are not uploaded to our servers for conversion or storage.

We built LocalPDF for people who need quick document fixes without trusting random upload sites. The product is English-first for Google search users worldwide, with a Chinese UI mirror under /zh/. Each tool has its own page, clear how-to steps, and FAQ so you know what happens to your files.

Who builds this

LocalPDF is an independent web product operated for openlocalpdf.com. It is not affiliated with Adobe, Smallpdf, iLovePDF, or other upload-based converters. We publish only on www.openlocalpdf.com as the official site.

How processing works

Tool pages load JavaScript libraries such as pdf-lib and, where needed for compression, pdf.js. When you select a PDF, the file is read in your tab’s memory, transformed locally, and offered as a download. There is no LocalPDF “upload and convert” API for user documents — that is an intentional architecture rule, not a marketing slogan.

Practical limits come from your device (RAM, CPU), not a server quota. Very large books may be slow or fail on modest phones; that is a browser constraint, not silent cloud offload.

Threat model (plain language)

  • We do not receive your PDF bytes for merge/split/rotate/watermark/compress processing.
  • Edge providers (for example Cloudflare) may log standard request metadata (IP, user-agent, URL) for security and reliability — not your document contents.
  • Browser extensions, malware, or shoulder-surfing on your device are outside our control; treat the machine you use as part of the trust boundary.
  • Always verify the address bar shows openlocalpdf.com before opening sensitive files.

Analytics & advertising

We use aggregate traffic measurement (currently Baidu Tongji / hm.js where configured) to understand which pages are used. Optional display advertising (for example Google AdSense) may load after configuration and policy review. Ads and analytics scripts can receive normal web request data; they are not given your PDF file contents by LocalPDF. Core tools do not require an account. See the Privacy page for the current statement.

Funding model

LocalPDF plans to cover costs with restrained display ads — never by selling your PDF contents or forcing a paywall for basic personal use. There is no tip jar or donate UI on the site.

If something is broken, a page looks wrong, or you believe content violates policy, please reach us via the Contact page. Do not email confidential PDFs — use the on-site tools only.
