When to use this tool

  • Combine scanned contract pages exported as separate PDFs.
  • Join a cover letter and resume into one application file.
  • Stack invoices or receipts before emailing accounting.
  • Assemble homework pages or lecture slides into a single handout.
  • Create one archive from mixed exports without trusting upload sites.

Merge without uploading?

Why browser-side merge is safer for resumes and contracts, plus order tips and encrypted files.

How to merge pdf

  1. Click the drop zone or browse to select two or more PDF files from your device.
  2. Use Up/Down to set the final page order (first file becomes the first section).
  3. Press Merge PDF — pdf-lib runs locally in your browser tab.
  4. Download the combined PDF. Nothing was uploaded to a server.

FAQ

Are my PDFs uploaded to a server? +

No. LocalPDF merges files with JavaScript (pdf-lib) inside your browser. Bytes never leave your device for processing.

Is there a file size or page limit? +

Limits come from your device memory, not our servers. Tens of MB and dozens of pages usually work fine on a modern laptop.

Do I need an account? +

No account, no email, and no watermarks on free merges. Open the page and merge.

Can I reorder files before merging? +

Yes. After you add files, use Up/Down controls to change merge order.

Does merge work offline? +

After the page and scripts load once, merge can run offline because processing is fully client-side.

Will merging reduce PDF quality? +

No. Pages are copied as-is into a new PDF document without re-encoding images.

What if a file is password-protected? +

Encrypted PDFs may fail to load. Remove the password in another tool first, then merge here.

How is this different from iLovePDF or Smallpdf? +

Those services typically upload your file. LocalPDF’s wedge is privacy: no upload, browser-only processing.

Why use a no-upload PDF tool?

Most free PDF websites ask you to upload contracts, IDs, and invoices to unknown servers. Even if they delete files later, the transfer itself is a privacy risk — and some sites inject watermarks or hard limits.

LocalPDF runs entirely in your browser with open libraries. Your file is never posted to our origin. That also means lower cost for us, so the core tools can stay free while we expand.
